The place

Basic 10-bunk backcountry DOC hut in Hakatere Conservation Park (Mid and South Canterbury). Access to the Cameron valley and the Arrowsmith Range — suitable for hunting and climbing. Access: 2-3 h from Boundary Creek Hut; alternative from Arrowsmith Station with permission and a small fee. No DOC track: independent navigation required. Free (except for the station access, which is paid).
