The place

Serviced DOC hut with 16 bunks at 611 m in Mount Aspiring National Park (Wanaka/Makarora, Otago, NZ), Wilkin Valley. Rates: adults $25/night, youth 5–17 $12.50, under 4 free; honesty box ticket or Backcountry Hut Pass. Bring sleeping bag, stove, fuel, dishes, toilet paper. Wood stove for heating. Access ~7-10 h from Kerin Forks Hut via the Wilkin Valley tracks. High demand from December to Easter: bring backup camping gear. No visitor centre in Makarora; contact via the Awarua/Haast or Tititea/Mt Aspiring centres.
