Standard-category DOC hut with six bunks, located at 601 m in the Whataroa area, on stewardship land (Glaciers zone, West Coast). Critical alert: "do not stay at the hut if heavy rain is forecast, significant flood risk; the surrounding riverbed carries large amounts of loose rock debris that can mobilise during a flood." Fee: NZD 10 for adults and NZD 5 for youth aged 5-17 per night, free below that age, payable via standard tickets or the annual Backcountry Hut Pass. No bookings.
