Toka Bivvy

The place

Basic 2-bunk DOC bivvy located at 1320 m on the Ngamoko Range, within Ruahine Forest Park (Manawatu-Whanganui). Sited at the western end of a basin below the ridgeline, sheltered from bad weather. Rebuilt in 2020 by volunteers with funding from the New Zealand Backcountry Trust. Free, open access. Distances: 4 h 30 from Limestone Road End, 5 h from Oroua Carpark, via unmarked routes connecting to the Tunupo Highpoint Track and the Knights-Shorts Loop Track.
