The place

Log cabin built by DNT in 1942, perched at 739 meters on the Hestebrenna ridge south of Høgfjell. Second hut along the Vassfarstien trail, a 116 km route. Main building: twelve places (eight beds in two rooms plus mattresses in the living/kitchen area, equipped with a fireplace and a wood stove); annex Juliussenbua, dog-friendly with a kennel. Well water must be boiled before drinking, or use the nearby stream. Unguarded access: opened with the standard DNT key, reserved for adult members. Booking runs from 2 pm to 2 pm; day visits are charged for cooking/heating, departure before 6 pm. Warden: Ulf Odderbø.
