Tjørnbrotbu

The place

Self-service DNT hut in the municipality of Bykle, in Setesdal Austheien (southern Norway), at 1,300 metres elevation and about 11 km from Hovden. Consists of a main hut and a safety hut, total capacity of 22 beds. Easy approach walk from Hovden, but exposed high-plateau terrain requiring proper equipment. Connects to the DNT network towards Bjåen to the north, Berdalsbu to the south, or Byrtedalen in Telemark. Groomed ski trails lead to the hut except for the last 2.1 km, marked with temporary tree branches between the winter and Easter holidays, with the route continuing on to Berdalsbu and Bjørnevasshytta.
