The place

Unstaffed DNT Sør hut located at 700 m on a former grazing "setre" east of Setesdal Vesthei, about 2 h walk from Langeid. Summer access by 6 km cycle track, winter access via an unmarked trail from the RV9. Six beds in the main building plus one outbuilding. Facilities: a well-equipped kitchen with a gas burner, wood-stove heating; water drawn from a nearby stream, toilet in the outbuilding. Hut left unlocked. Check-in and payment (nights and provisions) via the DNT app. Advance bookings possible, valid until 7 pm; after that, free beds available but not guaranteed. Dogs must stay outside or in the outbuilding only. Seasonal closures: from 1 January to 13 September; from 14 to 20 September, reserved for hunters. Reindeer protection zone, check movement guidelines. History: a former tourist station from 1929 to 1944, returned to DNT in 2006 after several decades of other uses.
