The place

Unstaffed cabin managed by Hamar og Hedemarken Turistforening (HHT), located at 525 m along the historic Rondanestien between Stange and Våler (Hedmark). Seven beds spread across three double beds. Facilities: wood stove, 12 V power, mobile network coverage. Small dedicated dog room with a crate and bedding for the owner. Built in 1945 in timber to house a team of six lumberjacks and a stable for four horses; opened as an unstaffed DNT-key cabin in 1996. Retains its original character, bearing witness to the post-war forestry heritage. Bring your own bedding. Dogs allowed in all HHT cabins. Payment on booking or via the DNT app (works offline). Summer access: 1 km from the main road via the Rondanestien (7-8 h from neighbouring trailheads). Winter access: about 2 km from the ski trails near Pruterud, no winter waymarking from the trail to the cabin.
