Tierberglihütte
The place
SAC hut perched at 2795 m on a rocky spur overlooking the upper Gadmen valley, at the foot of the Sustenpass and at the heart of the glacial world of the Bernese Uri Alps. Belongs to the SAC Basel-Land section. Capacity of 78 beds in 5 large, bright dormitories, beds fitted with duvets and pillows; separate men's/women's washrooms, boot room, drying room, large instruction hall. No showers. Summer season from 4 June to 27 September (depending on snow cover). Shortest summer access from the Umpol car park (2100 m), reached by toll road from the Steingletscher above the Sustenpass: alpine route T4, or via the Tierberglihütte via ferrata. Alternative from the Gadmen-Obermad bus stop (1209 m) along the Gadmer Reuss via Saageli, Wyssemad, In Miseren up to the Hotel Steingletscher. In winter: approach from Steingletscher (1865 m), about 3 h 30, over glacier — experience and equipment mandatory. An ideal base for glacier tours and the Tierberglihütte via ferrata.

Summer: Umpol car park (2100 m) via Steingletscher, T4 route or via ferrata K3. Winter: from Steingletscher (1865 m) ~3 h 30 over glacier.
