The place

Basic 2-bunk hut managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in the Takitimu Conservation Area, Southland region (South Island, New Zealand). Free access, no booking, first come first served. Stream crossings on the approach are unimproved: do not cross in flood or without clear entry/exit points identified; crossing training and checking NIWA flow data before departure are recommended.
