Historic cattlemen's hut (surname "Teddy" typical of squatters/riders 1830s-1940s), in a zone of Eucalyptus pauciflora snow gum twisted by extreme alpine wind (vertical chains of semi-persistent leaves surviving -30 °C) and unique alpine feldmark biome — Australia's 200 km² Kosciuszko alpine zone, 2228 m the continent's highest point + Sphagnum bog protected peatlands neighbouring Nothofagus cunninghamii in Victoria+Tasmania, heritage of the Snowy Hydro Scheme 1949-1974 (16 dams, 7 power stations, 4000 MW hydroelectricity for NSW+VIC, 100,000 builders, 121 dams, post-war European immigrant DPs).
