The place
Tea house or tea garden set at 1687 m in the Helambu region (Sindhupalchok district, Bagmati Pradesh, Nepal), north-east of Kathmandu and south of the Tibetan border. The area — coordinates 27.80°N / 85.48°E — corresponds to the Tamang and Hyolmo villages of upper Helambu, on the classic routes of the Helambu Trek (Sundarijal - Chisapani - Kutumsang - Sermathang - Melamchi Bazaar). Helambu tea houses — usually Tamang or Sherpa family homes — offer simple dormitories with blankets, daily dishes (dal bhat) and cardamom tea, with genuine immersion in Himalayan Buddhist cultures. The teahouse network was partly rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, which hit Helambu and neighbouring Langtang hard. An exceptional setting of rhododendron forests, with distant views of the Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa (6966 m) peaks.

On the Helambu Trek from Sundarijal (a Kathmandu suburb). Langtang National Park permit and TIMS card required.
