The place

Free Metsähallitus autiotupa east of the Luiro river in Urho Kekkonen National Park. Original building constructed in 1939 as a logger's cabin; a second log cabin moved from Arvojärvi was installed there in 2015, with the old one now used as storage. Four sleeping spots, a stove (kamiina) for heating and cooking — bring your own wood — no drinking water point or toilets. Free stopover without booking, 1 to 2 nights maximum, in the spirit of the autiotupa tradition.
