Tahkokuru Lapp Hut
The place
Octagonal day-use kota built in 2017 by the municipality of Kolari on the western slope of Kesänkitunturi, on the edge of the forest (Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, Kolari, Lapland). Replaces a run-down shelter. Indoor fireplace with benches; outdoor campfire site and dry toilets a few steps away on the same ridge.
Getting there
Summer: Pirunkurun ponnistus trail after a steep climb. Winter: cross-country ski and snowshoe trails pass nearby. Stop on the Hangaskuru-Tahkokuru-Kesänkijärvi loop or on the Pallas-Ylläs route.
