The place

Staffed alpine hut at 2,556 m below the north face of the Ortler, on the Marltschneid plateau above Sulden (South Tyrol, Italy, Stelvio National Park). Run by the Reinstadler family. Comfortable rooms (Zimmer) and a shared dormitory (Hüttenlager). Regional cuisine: Knödel, pasta, game, salads, and the house specialty Tabaretta-Kaiserschmarrn. Homemade pastries by hostess Andrea.
