The place

Unwardened (ubetjent) DNT cabin at 340 m in the Mosjømarka (Løten, Innlandet, Norway), along the Rondanestien. Built around 1940 in a dense forest of old spruce ("svartskog" = black forest), which gave the cabin its name. Owned by Løiten Almenning, managed by Hamar og Hedemarken Turistforening (HHT), Løten chapter. 8 beds across 2 rooms. Mattresses, blankets, solar panels, propane, cooking equipment, bedding. Separate unlocked room for day visitors. Well behind the cabin, outdoor latrine and woodshed. Half the beds can be booked in advance, the other half kept for walk-ins (payment via the DNT app). Standard DNT key required.
