Getting there

Open MBA (Mountain Bothies Association) bothy. ~3 km south of Loch Eriboll. A frequent stop on the Cape Wrath Trail. Managed by the MBA (https://www.mountainbothies.org.uk/bothies/northern-highlands/strabeg/).

The setting

Sutherland (parish of Durness, Scottish Highlands), 58.42°N 4.76°W. Inland from the head of Loch Eriboll, on the Cape Wrath Trail.

A bit of history

Strabeg: a two-storey shepherd's house built in 1894 to house an estate shepherd, replacing an earlier neighbouring building. Occupants were mainly shepherds. Today maintained as an open bothy by the MBA with the landowner's permission.
