Storsteinen
The place
Storsteinen is a rocky outcrop at 421 m elevation above Tromsø (northern Norway), reachable in 4 minutes by the Fjellheisen cable car from Solliveien in Tromsdalen. Two cabins ("Seal" and "Polar Bear") each carrying 28 passengers. Panoramic viewing platform at the top with a spectacular view over Tromsø, the surrounding islands, mountains and fjords. Terminal building housing the Fjellstua restaurant-café (hot drinks, snacks, full meals, large panoramic windows). Cable car open daily from 9 am to midnight; café from 9 am to 11:30 pm. Note: the database elevation of 950 m is incorrect (Storsteinen's actual elevation is 421 m).
Getting there
Fjellheisen cable car from Solliveien (Tromsdalen) in 4 min. A hiking trail is also possible.
