Getting there
DNT self-service hut, built in 1972. No electricity; gas, wood stove, candles. Water from the stream. Marked Mogen-Kalhovd route split into 2 stages. ~5 h walk from Stegaros. CLOSED during wild reindeer calving: May 1-June 10 and August 20-September 30 (special key lockout).
The setting
Upper Stordalen, Hardangervidda (60.06°N 8.08°E, 1132 m, Norway) — not Troms/Bardu despite the initial search. View over the large lakes. Well sheltered from westerly winds.
