The place

Self-service hut located at 575 m near Lake Storavatnet, managed by Haugesund Turistforening (Rogaland). Thirty-four bunks spread across three buildings: main building, emergency shelter, and dog kennel. Kitchen equipment, sheets, and provisions available; bring a sleeping bag or sheet liner. Easiest access from Saudasjøen, with the shortest route being 5 km from Skeivane. Winter access depends on the lake ice, due to avalanche risk. Two canoes and a rowboat are available, with fishing and swimming possibilities. Booking via the DNT system, payment via the DNT app, discounted rates for members. DNT key required (member-only access since spring 2026).
