Stølsmaradalen

The place

Self-service cabin of DNT Oslo og Omegn in the Hurrungane massif (Jotunheimen, Vestland, Norway), at 848 m altitude. Seven sleeping places, four pre-bookable and three for walk-in arrivals. Equipped kitchen, wood stove, gas, and candles; no electricity. Visitors bring sheets or a sleeping bag and take care of water and cleaning. Summer access from the Hjelle parking area: about 3 h from Vetti Farm or 4 h from Avdalen. Winter access forbidden (avalanche risk and burial by snow). Exceptional views toward Stølsnostind and Falketind, near the Stølsmaradalsfossen waterfall. The refuge lies within one of Norway's 24 wild reindeer areas.
