The place

Stazzo (former shepherds' shelter) at 1,629 m on the trail climbing to the Monte Marsicano, in the municipality of Opi (Abruzzo). One of the four stazzi of Opi, built last century as shelters for shepherds and recently restored by the municipality. Locked refuge: keys must be collected from the Hotel La Pieja in Opi. Eight places, panoramic view over the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise national park. Reserved for experienced hikers.
