The place

Standard-category DOC hut with six bunks located at 1170 m in Mount Richmond Forest Park (Nelson-Tasman, Motueka area). On the Te Araroa Trail route: long-distance hikers must register for the Te Araroa Trail Pass. Fee NZ$10 adult and NZ$5 youth (5-17) per night, free below that, payable via standard tickets or the annual Backcountry Hut Pass. No booking. Distances: 6 h from Hacket Creek Road (Aniseed Valley Road), 2h30 from Slaty Hut via the Alpine Route. Map BQ26, NZTM2000 E1620105, N5410303.
