Spurs Hut

The place

Basic DOC hut in Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park (Canterbury), at 812 m. Alpine setting surrounded by tussock. Free. Access from the North Opuha car park in about 2 h 30 of walking: from State Highway 79 near Fairlie, take Clayton Road then Fox Peak Ski Field Road to the DOC car park. The route follows the road then the left bank of the North Opuha River, crosses a marked easement on private land before entering the park.
