Spoon / Morgans Hut

The place

Basic four-bunk hut managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in the Jackson Bay-Gorge River area, South Westland on the west coast (South Island, New Zealand), at 257 metres elevation. Free access. No track marked by DOC: independent navigation required with map, compass, and GPS. The hut was relocated in 2020 and is now on the true right bank of the Spoon River, 500 metres upstream of its mouth; it may not appear on older maps.
