The place
DOC shelter, a historical replica of a hybrid cabin/tent model common in New Zealand in the 1930s (forestry and deer hunting). Built in April 2016, located at 792 m in Kahurangi National Park (Nelson-Tasman). Named in honour of Frank and Berna Soper, founders of the Golden Bay Alpine Tramping Club (1960), pioneers of the conservation efforts that led to the creation of today's Kahurangi National Park.
