Songedalen fjellgard
The place
A former mountain farm with distinctive character and atmosphere, managed by Stavanger Turistforening (DNT) under a long-term lease since 2005, located in a valley just above the Lysefjord (Ryfylke, Rogaland, Norway), at 390 metres elevation. A stop on the spectacular Lysefjord loop. An unstaffed, unlocked hut with no provisions on deposit: six beds on the ground floor and thirteen mattresses in the large upstairs dormitory, for 19 bunks in total. Access by car via route 13 from Tau toward Årdal, turning toward Nes then toward Songedalen. The farm was considered significant in earlier times, abandoned as early as 1902, and leased for grazing sheep and cattle brought from other valleys. Preferential DNT member rate.
