The place
The Sommerseite chalet is an unstaffed shelter at 1010 m in the Hautes-Vosges (Alsace), above the Schlumpf ski slope. The refuge is fairly clean but has no store of dry firewood inside, despite a large supply outside from recent windfall. The stove works well; bringing aluminum tape is advisable for a stay. A wood saw is available. Access on foot only, free access year-round, intended for hikers.
