The place

A self-service hut of Bergen og Hordaland Turlag in the Stølsheimen, at 646 m. Managed locally by Askøy Turlag. A main building with a large common room, drying room, and dormitories offering 35 places, complemented by a 6-place emergency building with dog kennels. Gas cooking, wood heating, composting toilets, solar panels for minimal lighting — no running water or mains electricity. Access via marked T trails from Stølsvatnet (2 h from Steinsland), from Norddalshytten, or from Åsedalen; in winter the road is not ploughed, limiting access. Main season June-October. Free fishing for guests, canoe and rowboat rental on site, varied trails, berry picking in season. Dogs allowed only in the dedicated kennels.
