The place

A free Metsähallitus day cabin (päivätupa) at the eastern end of Lake Soiperoinen, in the protected nature area of the same name, in the municipality of Taivalkoski in southern Lapland. A family-friendly destination less than an hour's drive from Syöte National Park. Access via the Soiperoisentie road to a small car park, then a three-hundred-metre walk to the cabin. Reserved for daytime use as a rest stop, hot meal, and shelter in bad weather; overnight stays are not permitted. Coordinates: 65° 40.6440' N, 28° 16.4348' E. Managed by Metsähallitus.
