Snowgrass Hut

The place

Standard backcountry DOC hut with 10 bunks in Ka Whata Tu o Rakihouia Clarence Conservation Park (Marlborough). No DOC-maintained walking access: self-sufficient navigation required. Vehicle access via Colin Nimmo at Muzzle Station (+64 3 319 5791, muzzle@xtra.co.nz). Main route: SH1 south of Kaikoura for 5 km, Waiau/Mt Lyford turnoff, then 25 km inland to the Kahutara River bridge car park. Road closed to vehicles in winter. Rates (until 30 June 2026) NZ$10/5 adult/youth via Standard Hut Ticket (honesty box) or Backcountry Hut Pass.
