Standard DOC hut with four bunks at 864 m in Ruahine Forest Park (Hawke's Bay, North Island, New Zealand). Built in 1958, the best surviving example of Forest Service SF40 huts in the region. Rainwater tank, open fireplace.

Getting there
North Block Road off State Highway 50 near Wakarara Road. The last 4 km cross private farmland: respect stock and gates. From the Sunrise car park, about 4 to 5 km through forest and scrub. NZTopo50 coordinates BL36: E1871199, N5584228. DOC fees: NZ$15/night adult, NZ$7.50 youth, free under-4. Rat population: bring bait.
