The place

Unstaffed (ubetjent) cabin run by Hamar og Hedemarken Turistforening (DNT), in the Åstdalen valley, Ringsaker municipality (Innlandet, Norway), at 675 metres altitude, 46 km from Brumunddal. Vehicle access all year round via an established road. Six beds with duvets, pillows and blankets (sleeping bag liner required). Kitchen equipment, solar panels for lighting and phone charging, wood stove. Unstaffed cabin locked with the standard DNT key (membership required); pre-booking or same-day payment via the DNT app. Activities: hiking, skiing (groomed trail about 500 m away), trout and char fishing (prohibited 15 September to 15 October), orienteering, cycling.
