The place

Standard DOC hut in Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park (East Coast). **The first hut built in Whirinaki**: fine views over podocarp and beech forest. An accessible one-night wilderness destination, a good base for preparing more demanding hikes. Access: 1 h 30 from Rogers Hut (Te Wairoa) or 2 h from Okahu Road.
