The place
Ski and holiday chalet located in the municipality of Obergesteln in the Conches valley (Goms, Upper Valais, Switzerland), between the nascent Rhône valley and the Furka, Grimsel and Nufenen passes. The village of Obergesteln, accessible year-round by road and train (Matterhorn-Gotthard railway), is an ideal starting point for high-altitude routes into the Uri and Lepontine Alps. The typical chalet has a ground floor with a living room, equipped kitchen, stone stove and south-facing balcony, and a ski storage room; upstairs there are 3 bedrooms (6 beds in total: 2 doubles + 1 single with an extra bed). Indicative rate CHF 140/day in the winter season. The Goms region is famous for its more than 100 km of cross-country ski trails (Sonnenloipe, World Cup track, forest trail, dog trail, floodlit night trail) that run alongside the frozen Rhône through freshly snow-covered larch forests.
