Silberhornhütte
The place
The Silberhornhütte is a self-service, unstaffed hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, Lauterbrunnen section, located at 2663 m elevation in the Lauterbrunnental (Bernese Oberland). Exposed on the ridge (Rotbrettlücke) directly at the foot of the Rotbrätthorn (2720 m). Inaugurated on 30 June 1935, it is a rustic and simple self-service hut. 12 beds, equipped kitchen and firewood available. An ideal base for climbing the Schwarzmönch (2648 m) or the Jungfrau (4158 m). Booking required via the SAC system. Wet conditions and fresh snow make the approach difficult; the hut is inaccessible in winter.
