The place

Serviced hut with 20 bunks managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in Mount Aspiring National Park, Wanaka/Makarora area, Otago region (South Island, New Zealand), at 642 meters elevation. Basic equipment: bring sleeping bag, cooking gear, fuel, utensils, toilet paper and matches. Resident warden from Labour Weekend to 30 April. Booking required from 22 October 2026 to 30 April 2027; in May until Labour Weekend, first-come first-served with payment at the box. Rates until 30 June 2026: NZ$30/night adult hut fee, NZ$15 youth, free under 5; camping NZ$10 adult, NZ$5 youth. Neighbouring huts: Kerin Forks (2-3 h) and Young Hut (6-8 h via the Gillespie Pass Circuit).
