Shelter in Mill Building
The place
Shelter set up in a former mill building, located 440 m west of the Petsioni Bridge in the Zagori region, in the northern Pindus range (Epirus, Greece). At about 741 m altitude, at the heart of Zagori, a group of 46 traditional stone villages inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage "cultural landscape" since 2023, in the wider Tymfi, Pindus and Mitsikeli area. An exceptional setting of deep gorges (Vikos), traditional stone bridges and preserved 18th-19th century villages. The mill building, converted into a hiker's shelter, is a testament to the region's traditional water engineering. A basic shelter used on the trails between Aristi, Papingo and Monodendri, within Northern Pindus National Park and around the famous Vikos Gorge.
