The place
The Sesvennahütte, or Rifugio Sesvenna, is a staffed cabin of the Alpenverein Südtirol, set at 2256 m in the Sesvenna massif, in the upper Vinschgau valley, municipality of Mals-Schlinig, close to the Swiss border. It is the only refuge in the massif on the South Tyrol side. It is staffed in summer, from mid-June to mid-October, with an additional winter season from February to April for ski touring. It serves both as a destination and a starting point for routes in the Sesvenna group, and provides access to routes toward the Uina gorge via the Slingia pass.
