Refuge de la Sega

The place

Staffed refuge at 1166 m on the left bank of the Tavignano, municipality of Corte (Haute-Corse), at the heart of the Monte Rotondo massif. Off the GR 20, on the Mare à Mare Nord route (stage 6 Corte → la Sega, stage 7 la Sega → Calacuccia). Accessible year-round but staffed only from mid-May to October. Rebuilt and enlarged in 1995 by the Corsica Regional Nature Park, capacity of 36 places plus a nearby bivouac. Meals in season. Access from Corte via the Tavignano valley (12 km, 3 h 30 without breaks), from Calacuccia (2 h 30), from Restonica (2 h). Large natural pool behind the refuge, a major draw in summer.
