The place

Protective shelter at 2048 m, less than a kilometre south of the Trütlisbergpass toward Stübleni (Bernese Alps, Obersimmental-Saanen district, Switzerland). Open, no key needed. Designed as a shelter in case of sudden storms: no particular amenities, one can spend the night there with their own gear without needing to notify anyone. Spectacular gypsum geology, whose slow dissolution by rainwater creates sinkholes giving the terrain a cratered look. On a variant of the Via Alpina between Lauenen and Lenk.
