Schutzhütte Dahlheim
The place
A forest shelter (Schutzhütte) at about 332 m altitude in the Dahlheim area, in the uplands of the north-eastern Hunsrück, in the hinterland of Boppard and the Mittelrhein (Rhineland-Palatinate). Located in the large forest of the Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis, rich in shelters built and maintained by the municipality of Boppard. The shelter is typical of the Mittelrhein Schutzhütten: wooden post construction with a fixed bench-table, a steep roof, and either an open outdoor hearth or a designated barbecue area. A stop on the hiking trails of the Hunsrückhöhenweg and the variants of the Rheinsteig in the Loreley hinterland. Mixed forest setting of beech, oak, maple and pine, popular for family hikes and mountain-bike outings.
