Schmadrihütte AACB

The place

Mountaineering hut of the Akademischer Alpenclub Bern (AACB) located at 2,262 m in the upper Lauterbrunnen valley (Bernese Oberland), at the foot of the Grosshorn, the Lauterbrunner Breithorn, the Tschingelhorn, and the Mittaghorn. Small unstaffed building with 8 places, blankets, a wood-burning stove for cooking, running water 30 m away, electric lighting, and mobile reception. Located in a cantonal nature reserve where fires are prohibited. Access from Stechelberg via Schwand (3 h 30) or via the Oberhornsee (4 h 30 to 5 h). Online booking mandatory, payment after confirmation, contribution of 10 to 35 CHF depending on age and club affiliation. Restocked from early June to mid-October with regular visits by the AACB team.
