Schlink Hilton
The place
Schlink Hilton is an unusually large hut located at 1776 m elevation in Kosciuszko National Park (New South Wales, Australia), about 2 km west of Schlink Pass. Built between 1960 and 1961 by the Snowy Mountains Authority as a base for workers maintaining Australia's highest-voltage transmission line between Guthega Power Station and Khancoban. Its nickname "Schlink Hilton" dates from the mid-1960s, referring to its large size (11 rooms including a bathroom) considered luxurious by Australian standards. Now managed by the Kosciuszko Huts Association, it is a classic stage on the AAWT (Australian Alps Walking Track).
