Schärdinger Hütte
The place
The Schärdingerhütte is a self-managed hut run by the Naturfreunde, located at 400 m in Wernstein am Inn (Innviertel, Upper Austria). Fully renovated in 2006 with a new common room and kitchen block, it is equipped with a solar power system (lighting and mobile charging, decent reception). Bunk beds (bring your own sleeping bag). Accessible only on foot: 20 minutes from Fraunhof, 45 minutes from Wernstein train station. Open season from May to October. Catering only by prior reservation, and on May 1st and October 26th weather permitting. Rate: EUR 30 flat hut fee + EUR 10/night for members, EUR 15 for non-members; an additional EUR 30 cleaning fee if not left clean. No pets allowed.
Getting there
On foot only: 20 min from Fraunhof, 45 min from Wernstein train station. Car access as far as Fraunhof.
