The place

Free Metsähallitus autiotupa in the Martimoaava-Lumiaava-Penikoiden wetland protection area, on the boundary between the municipalities of Simo and Keminmaa (southern Lapland). Cabin built in the 2000s, sleeps 4. Located on the Martimoaava hiking trail between the Kivalo car park and the open marshes, next to the Saunasaari outdoor fireplace and toilets. No drinking water provided on site, mobile coverage on the island is often weak. Free stopover with no booking, under the standard autiotupa system.
