The place
Staffed Swiss Alpine Club hut at 2,158 m in the Calfeisental, surrounded by the highest peaks of St. Gallen, below the Sardona glacier. Run by the SAC Zindelspitz section. Forty-four beds in season, fourteen in the winter room. Located within the UNESCO World Heritage perimeter of the Sardona tectonic arena (Glarus thrust). Hiking season mid-June to mid-October. Half board with a three-course dinner (meat or vegetarian), overnight stay and buffet breakfast.

Getting there
Access from St. Martin in 3 to 5.5 h, or from Weisstannen in about 7 h. Bike possible up to the Alp Sardona, then a one-hour walk.
