Sandvatn
The place
Sandvatn is an unstaffed DNT cabin at 910 m elevation, available to rent through Stavanger Turistforening (Southern Norway, Agder/Rogaland). Capacity of 22 beds plus a loft with mattresses. Equipped with dishware and bedding, no electricity but gas, wood stove and candles. Located on open mountain terrain, near the mouth of the Sandavatn, easy to access, heavily used in summer, autumn and winter. Classic access from Lortabu in the Hunnedalen, around 3 hours' walk. In winter (from early February), a marked cross-country ski trail runs from Lortabu to Sandvatn. A stop on the DNT hut-to-hut routes of southern Norway.
