The place

Forest cabin (metsaonn) of the RMK — Riigimetsa Majandamise Keskus, the Estonian State Forest Management Centre — located in the village of Rassi, 5 km from Tõrvaugu, within the Saarjõe protected landscape area (Järvamaa, central Estonia). A two-storey building with no electricity, built near the Saarjõe river. The last Saeveski forester's house was built in 1954 but was in service for only 4-5 years due to a lack of electricity; the abandoned building deteriorated until the forest administration converted it into a public shelter. Free, open access for hikers. A spacious building suited to large groups, with no modern comforts but offering the tranquility of the riverside forest. Facilities: woodshed, open hearth with grill, parking for six cars. About 5 km of forest tracks from Rassi or Türi.
