The place

Varaustupa (paid reservation hut) run by Metsähallitus on the Kalottireitti (Arctic Trail), in the Käsivarsi wilderness area (Enontekiö municipality, Finnish Lapland), near the Norwegian border, north of the Salmivaarot and northwest of Lake Saarijärvi — about 12 km from Kilpisjärvi on foot or by ski. Building in two sections (Kiiruna and Naali): 16 beds total when both sides are booked, plus a free autiotupa on site. Each section: bunk beds for 8 people. Booking and payment online via Eräluvat.fi (paid reservations are non-modifiable). Numbered key box with a code sent by email after payment. Navigation skills required; seasonal closures (kelirikkosulut) shared with the other Käsivarsi sites.
